Sobi 1.10 — Introducing Multi-Step

Wrapping up August with a new feature 🙂 Multi-Step!

Long forms (sometimes) convert better when you break them into steps. Most WordPress plugins either lock multi-step behind a paywall, or bolt on a wizard UI that feels nothing like the builder you already use.

1.10 keeps the same flat canvas. You just drop a New step block where you want the page to break.

Why multi-step, actually?

Quote requests, job applications, onboarding questionnaires… when everything lands on one scroll, people bail. Steps give visitors one clear question at a time. Less overwhelming, fewer half-filled submissions, same data in the end.

One form, one submission

Multi-step is not “three separate forms glued together.” Visitors tap Next and Back, validation runs on each step, and Submit only appears on the last one.

When they finish, you still get one row in the inbox: same admin email, visitor confirmation, webhooks, Brevo, Mailchimp. All field values, one payload. Nothing changes on the automation side.

How it works in the builder

  1. Open any form → Layout → New step
  2. Drag it between fields (think of it as a page break on the canvas)
  3. Save

On the front, visitors see a simple progress bar, Next / Back, and required fields block advancing until they’re filled in.

Existing forms? Untouched. No step block = same single-page behaviour as before.

What I kept lean on purpose

No bloated “form wizard” mode. No extra React on the front (still ~5 KB gzipped). No paywall, multi-step ships in the free plugin on WordPress.org.

Custom step titles, clickable pagination, save & continue… maybe for later. For now: solid steps, clean UX, and zero regression.

Try it

Update to 1.10 from your WordPress dashboard (or grab it on wordpress.org/plugins/sobi-forms).

Open a form, add a New step between your field groups, embed it, and walk through it once as a visitor.

Questions or ideas → forum or the roadmap.

Let me know what you think!

Cheers,
