Sobi Forms 1.5.0 — File Uploads, Hidden Fields & More
Hey everyone!
Sobi Forms v1.5.0 is officially live. This is a massive update packed with features designed to make your forms much more powerful for your day-to-day business, while keeping everything incredibly simple to use.
TL;DR — What’s new in 30 seconds?
- File Uploads: Your visitors can finally send you documents or images safely and securely.
- Page Tracking: See exactly which page of your site each message was submitted from.
- Auto-Close: Automatically shut down a form after it reaches a specific number of responses (perfect for events).
- Hidden Fields: Track your marketing campaigns in the background without annoying your users.
- Layout Blocks: Add headings and paragraphs to visually guide your visitors through longer forms.
1. Accept File Uploads (CVs, photos, documents)
This was by far the most requested feature! You can now add a “File Upload” field to any form.
- Real-world use case: You’re hiring and need to receive resumes, or you run a service business and want clients to upload photos or technical specs to give them an accurate quote.
- How it works: Simply check the allowed categories (Images, Applications, Text documents…) in the builder. All submitted files are securely stored and accessible only to you, directly from your WordPress Submissions inbox.
2. Know exactly which page a lead came from
Imagine you embed the exact same contact form in your footer or across multiple blog posts. A visitor writes: “Hey, I’m really interested in this offer, how do we get started?”.
- The problem: Which offer or service are they actually looking at?
- The solution: Sobi Forms now captures a frozen snapshot of the exact page title and path (e.g.,
/services/premium/) at the exact moment they hit submit. You get the full context instantly without guessing.
3. Control Form Availability
Are you organizing an event with limited seating? Or maybe running a giveaway for the first 50 sign-ups? You don’t need to stay up until midnight just to manually take a page down. You can now tell Sobi Forms to automatically close the form as soon as it reaches a specific submission limit.
4. Track your campaigns (without bothering your visitors)
With the new Hidden Fields and URL Parameter Prefill, you can quietly collect marketing data (or anything else) behind the scenes. If you run Facebook ads or send out a newsletter, you can automatically capture things like ?utm_source=newsletter into hidden inputs. You get to track what works without forcing users to answer a “How did you hear about us?” dropdown.
5. Cleaner forms (and a much faster dashboard)
To help you structure longer forms, the editor now includes Title and Paragraph blocks. Use them to write section headers, instructions, or helpful tips to guide your users step-by-step. Since they are just layout blocks, they won’t clutter your inbox database when a form gets submitted.
Finally, I spent a lot of time cleaning up under the hood: building forms and loading your submissions inbox is now noticeably faster and smoother, even on busy sites.
The v1.5.0 update is available right now in your WordPress dashboard.
